Jolipa BV (perhaps better known as J-Line) is a leading Belgian distributor of home decor. They sell directly to customers across multiple online marketplaces, using ChannelEngine as their marketplace integration platform.
Jolipa became a Plytix client in 2023, so we sat down with Jasper Demeurie, their Ecommerce Manager, to learn how adding Plytix to their tech stack boosted content scores (and sales) across their marketplaces.
“When I started working at J-Line, we still pushed product data to ChannelEngine, our marketplace integration tool, via a gigantic Google Spreadsheet,” Jasper explained.
They were using ChannelEngine to push products to Bol and other marketplaces. But with over 8,000 active SKUs, managing product information in spreadsheets was limiting. Spreadsheets aren’t designed for managing rich content, and maintaining high-quality, error-free data across thousands of products was becoming increasingly difficult.
“It was an accident waiting to happen,” Jasper told us. “The question was when, not if, something would go wrong.”
ChannelEngine is a powerful tool, but like any system, the quality of your output depends on the quality of your input. If product data isn’t complete or content isn’t optimized, that’s what gets passed on to the channels, and it directly impacts performance. Jolipa was aiming for 4 or 5 out of 5 content scores on Bol.com (scores that are based on the quality and completeness of their product information), but only 44% of their listings were hitting that mark.
With all their product content now stored in Plytix, it’s easy for Jolipa to optimize product information for each channel. Once the content is ready, products are automatically pushed to ChannelEngine and distributed across their marketplaces.
“We have a better overview of our product content, and the new product ranges for the upcoming seasons are prepared well in advance. It’s a huge joy to see the change having a direct impact, both on our brand image and sales, based on a better organic ranking.”
“I’d wanted to use Plytix for a while. The direct integration with ChannelEngine (and the customization options) was a big selling point." Another selling point was how easy it was to get started: "With Plytix, we had our connection up and running in just three weeks,” Jasper told us.
“For me, the connection between Plytix and ChannelEngine is just optimal. I love being able to make little tweaks here and there, or manually push or pull information from both sides when I need to. And adding new attributes is as smooth as it comes. Using the Plytix formula builder, you can even auto-translate attributes (like names, currencies, or image formats) as you send them to ChannelEngine.”
