Eva Solo is a fourth-generation Danish homeware manufacturer. Known for their Scandi-style utensils, they were the first company to create kitchenware stylish enough that you'd want to leave it out on display.
They’ve been a Plytix client for 7 months. We spoke to Jakob, Marketing Manager at Eva Solo, to find out how managing and sharing product information to their sales channels has improved in that time.
Before Plytix, Jakob spent hours updating spreadsheets, but could still never find the product information he needed
“I just couldn’t get my hands on up-to-date product information. Without that information, our products couldn’t be listed, and if they weren’t listed, they weren’t selling,” Jakob told us.
“Instead of focusing on sales, I was spending at least 70% of my time piecing together spreadsheets and files from different teams so I could keep our website and sales channels updated,” he told us. “I became the unofficial product data guy. My own team was looking to me for the information they needed, but so were our B2B Sales Manager and our sales team. I ended up relying on a single, massive spreadsheet to manage all our product information. But with so many products, all with different sets of data, the spreadsheet kept getting more and more complex, to the point where even applying a filter would crash it.”
On top of that, spreadsheets can’t store files, so all of their assets—pack shots, images, and videos—were stuck in OneDrive. “I spent hours organizing them and making sure they all followed a meticulous naming structure so I could find the right image when we needed to list a product or send assets to a retail partner.”
With a system so complicated, there was no way Jakob could let anyone else touch his master spreadsheet. “Every single request to check, update, or fix product information had to go through me. And we still ended up with mistakes. Our operations team was the worst culprit; they kept updating prices without telling me, and we’d end up with different prices on all of our sales channels. I don’t even want to think about what that must’ve cost the company.”
And, of course, their product information wasn’t static. “We added about 500-1,000 new products to our catalog every year while discontinuing just as many. I had to coordinate with marketing, design, operations, and translation teams to gather all the information we needed. And because they didn’t always send me everything we needed to list our products, I ended up filling in the gaps myself. At one point, I was even relying on my high school German to do some translations myself.”
How Jakob reclaimed his time by switching to Plytix
“The impact across the company since adopting Plytix has been huge,” Jakob told us. ”Our ERP system is now directly connected to Plytix via API, so product updates happen automatically. Change a price or add a product to their ERP, and Plytix is instantly updated. Plus, our marketing, design, and translation teams can just add descriptions, translations, and images straight into Plytix instead of sending them to me.”
And their B2B Sales Manager? “He doesn’t have to come to me for product information anymore, either. In fact, he can give our 200 retail partners and distributors worldwide direct access to what they need through Plytix’s Brand Portals (branded, digital catalogs) and Product Feeds (customized, automated data feeds).”
“Now, while I’m still the go-to person for product information, I finally have a tool that can handle it. My system works for me, not the other way around.”
Choosing the right PIM system
“At my (very insistent) urging, we finally adopted Plytix seven months ago,” Jakob told us. The transition was smooth, thanks to how organized Jakob had kept Eva Solo’s product information. “Getting all the information into Plytix was done in an hour or so. I simply dumped my master spreadsheet into Plytix, and then all the information was there.”
Each column from Jakob’s spreadsheet automatically became an attribute in Plytix. “The system even suggested the best ways to structure our data. The same went for our images: because I’d been so careful about how we named them, Plytix’s AI could automatically match the right product photos to the correct products. It didn’t make a single mistake in that process. That really impressed me.”
The best thing about Plytix?
“If I had to pick one thing, I’d say that Plytix gave me my time back. I no longer have to manage our product information manually, and Plytix keeps our website, Shopify, Amazon, and other sales channels up to date without any effort on my part. That means I can finally focus on sales. And it’s working—sales are up! You can literally see on our Analytics dashboard when we adopted Plytix—our conversion rates shot up!”
