Send your first Plytix edit to Shopify

Once your first sample of products is imported from Shopify into your Plytix account, the best way to test your connection is with a real product update. This will help you see how Plytix sends product content to Shopify in a few clicks.

In this playbook, you’ll make a small change in Plytix, process your Shopify channel, and confirm that the new information appears in your store.

It’s a quick way to see how the connection works before moving on to larger updates.

What you’ll learn

By the end of this playbook, you’ll know how to update a product in Plytix and send that change to Shopify. You’ll see firsthand how the connection works so you can feel confident to make bigger updates.

This workflow helps you:

  • Confirm your Shopify connection
Sending a real product update to Shopify is one of the fastest ways to check that your products, attributes, and channel mapping are working correctly.
  • Build confidence before making bulk changes
Start with one small edit so you can understand the process before updating a larger group of products
  • Keep your product information consistent
Testing your Shopify connection will help you get a feel of how the Plytix app works, so you can manage product content from Plytix instead of making manual edits in Shopify or in spreadsheets.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Choose a product to update
Open the Product Overview and find a product you want to edit.
For this test, choose a simple field in your view, such as the label, description, category, or tags.
  2. Make a quick edit
Double-click the field you want to change and enter the new value.
You can edit the product directly from the table, just like you would in a spreadsheet.
  3. Process your Shopify channel
Once the change is saved, head to Channels and open your Shopify channel.
Click ‘Process now’ to send the latest product information to Shopify.
  4. Check the result in Shopify
Open the product in Shopify and confirm that the updated value appears correctly.
If the change is visible, your connection and field mapping are working as expected.

Best practices and resources

Now that you’ve tested the workflow, here are a few ways to make future product updates faster and easier.

Click on any of the tips below for a step-by-step guide.

  • Customize your view

Set up your view with the product types, attributes, columns, and filters you use most often. Plytix will keep your workspace organized so it’s easier to return to the same view for future updates.

  • Find a specific group of products

Use filters to quickly find the products you want to update. This is useful when you’re working with a particular product type, category, collection, or status.

  • Schedule your Shopify updates

Once you’ve confirmed that the connection is working, you can schedule channel processing.

This allows new changes in Plytix to be sent to Shopify automatically, without processing the channel manually every time.

FAQs

What product information can I edit?
You can edit any product attribute managed in Plytix, including descriptions, tags, categories, specifications, statuses, metafields, and more.
Can I update only a specific group of products?
Yes, you can use filters to narrow down your catalog or manually select the products you want to work with. Only the products included in your Shopify channel will be sent to your store.
How do I sync changes to Shopify?
Plytix has a direct connection to Shopify, so you can sync changes through your configured channel. You can sync changes on demand by clicking “process now” or run updates on a schedule. Any changes you make in Plytix won’t be sent to your store until your channel is processed.
Why hasn’t my change appeared in Shopify?
If a change hasn’t appeared in Shopify, it it may be because of your channel setup. First, make sure you’ve clicked “process now.” If the update still isn’t visible, check that the attribute you’re editing is mapped to Shopify in the “mapping” tab of your channel.
Do I need to edit products in Shopify, too?
No, once your Shopify channel is configured, product information can be managed in Plytix and synced directly to your store.
